FLIP-FLOP

If there is anything that turns me off, it is the expression, "flip-flop". It is a derogatory way of saying, "changing your mind". Everytime I hear it, I think of my charming, and very intelligent French friend, who in her charming French accent, told a group of sailors at a meeting, "Only a stupid person never changes his mind." So if our politicians, on reflection, or on seeing results they do not like, change their minds on an issue, it is only the stupid person who refers  to it as "flip-flopping. If I never hear that expression again, it will be too soon, and if I do, the person who uses it, loses any stature they may have had. Careful, Chris Matthews, my respect for you just slipped.
